A level 3 vocational course is an equivalent qualification to 1 or more A-Levels. Sometimes referred to as ‘BTECs’ although that is just one of many exam boards.

Level 2 – this is a lower tier of qualification and will give the candidate a qualification that is equivalent to GCSE.

Minimum GCSE/L2 Grade 

Applied Science (BTEC) 

5-5 (Combined) / 5 (Separate).

Art 

To include a minimum of 4 subjects at grade 5 or above at GCSE plus English Language at Grade 4 or above. You should also have a grade 5 or above in either Art, Textiles or Graphics.

Biology 

6-6 (Combined) / 6 (Separate)

A grade 5 in GCSE English and grade 6 in Maths

Business 

5 in GCSE Business (if studied) & 6 in English & 5 in Maths. 

Chemistry 

6-6 (Combined) / 6 (Separate).

A grade 5 in GCSE English and grade 6 in Maths

Computer Science 

6 in GCSE Computer Science (if studied) 4 in English & 7 in Maths and Science.

English Literature 

6 In English Literature.

Further Maths 

7 in Maths.

Geography 

5 in Geography + 5-5 combined Science and 4’s in English & Maths. 

Health & Social Care 

4 in English & Maths + 4-4 combined Science .

History 

6 + 6 in English Literature.  

Languages 

6 in chosen language.

Law 

6 in English Literature.

Maths 

6 on higher paper. 

Music 

5 or equivalent on performance instrument. 

Media

5 in English (either).

Performing Arts (BTEC) 

4 in Drama or a Pass in Performing Arts. 

Photography

Physical Education 

6 in PE and 5-5 combined Science / 5 in Separate Sciences.

Religious Education 

Students should have ideally achieved Grade 4 at GCSE in RS or Citizenship.
