Garth Hill College

RISE@GHC Curriculum

At Garth Hill College, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), have full access to a balanced and broadly based curriculum, including the National Curriculum. We believe that every pupil, regardless of their prior attainment, should be supported to achieve their full potential.

Our teachers set high expectations for all learners and use appropriate assessments to establish ambitious yet achievable targets. By identifying potential areas of difficulty from the outset, we proactively plan lessons that remove barriers to learning, ensuring that pupils with SEND can engage meaningfully with the curriculum.

To support this inclusive approach, we provide a range of additional interventions and adjustments, including:

  • In-class support from teaching assistants
  • Targeted intervention groups to address specific learning needs
  • Alternative study support pathways where appropriate
  • After-school academic appointments and structured revision sessions
  • Access to alternative provision to support Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs while preparing for adulthood

Through these provisions, we strive to create an inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive and achieve success.
