Year 10 Work Experience UPDATE
As Year 10 pupils will know, they were due to embark on their work experience placements next week. Unfortunately, due to the current national situation and associated school closure, the college had little option but to postpone their work experience and have had to plan ahead for later in the year. This will help the college to ensure that the pupils receive their careers education in a timely manner and are not disadvantaged by the current situation.
The postponement will mean a change to the week beginning 19 October 2020 which will now be their work experience week. Furthermore, the placement will be shortened to three days so that we can cover all their careers education needs and provide skills sessions ahead of their GCSEs. Mr Huskinson will be working with Mrs Hart to ensure the week is really productive and covers all the careers, skills and motivation sessions the pupils would have normally experienced by October half term of year 11.
The college will make the necessary arrangements with Learning to Work regarding the postponement. If you had arranged your ‘own placement,’ please contact the employer and check they are in agreement with the postponement (in principle). It is possible that in these uncertain times they might struggle to offer the placement or confirm that they are able to at this time. Should that be the case, please contact Mrs Burge so that we can review the situation for your child.
