Notice of Election of Parent Governor

We are currently inviting nominations for one Parent Governor vacancy on the Governing Body of Garth Hill College. This is an excellent opportunity for a parent or carer to play a key role in supporting the strategic direction of the College and ensuring the best possible education for our students.

Parent Governors are vital in bringing the parent perspective to discussions and decisions. They work alongside other governors and school leaders to provide challenge, support, and oversight. No formal qualifications are required—just a commitment to education, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively. Skills in areas such as leadership, finance, HR, data analysis, or SEND are welcome but not essential.

Governors are expected to:

  • Attend up to 8 board meetings per year
  • Participate in working groups or ad hoc meetings
  • Act as a Link Governor for a specific area
  • Undertake free training provided by the local authority
