Garth Hill College

Inclusion Badge Award

We are delighted to share that the College has attained the Inclusion Badge Award.  This is great testament to the work of staff and pupils, particularly of our pupil representative groups, the College’s pastoral team, Mrs Morris, Miss Preuth, Ms Dossett, Mrs Moroka, Ms Louis, Mrs Brown-Fyffe.  Our successful application was founded on five key areas of work in the last year:

  • International Culture Week - to celebrate and learn about different cultures, languages, music, food etc.
  • Our work to make the LRC library collection more inclusive and representative.
  • Our Wellbeing Charter on tackling bullying and discrimination.  Formerly the anti-Bullying Charter, this important document is reviewed regularly in response to pupil feedback.
  • Staff training on tackling discrimination in school.
  • Work to mark Disability Awareness Week, focusing on challenging common misconceptions and stigma around disability.

Our Inclusion Badge is awarded by The Diana Award.  The Diana Award was founded on the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change their community.  The organisation lead several campaigns and projects to champion diversity and inclusion or promote equal rights for any of the nine protected characteristics.
