GHC Pupils Shine at RugbyFest with Bracknell RFC

Congratulations to three talented GHC pupils who proudly represented Bracknell RFC at RugbyFest last Friday:

  • Faye Randall (Year 8)
  • Hemi Thompson (Year 9)
  • Emilie East (Year 10)

The event was a special celebration of women’s rugby, attended by none other than World Cup-winning Red Roses stars Ellie Kildunne and Marlie Packer, as well as former World Cup winner and television pundit Maggie Alphonsi.

A particular highlight came when Hemi Thompson was interviewed by BBC South Today and featured on the evening news! A fantastic moment!

We are incredibly proud of all three girls and wish them every success on their rugby journey. Who knows — maybe one day we’ll be cheering them on in a Red Roses jersey!

What is RugbyFest?

RugbyFest is a nationwide celebration of rugby which ran from Friday 3 October to Monday 6 October 2025. It marks the conclusion of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, hosted this year in England, and provides a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate the sport.

Supported by the Red Roses, the event invited clubs, schools, colleges, universities, and community groups to host their own local rugby activities — from taster sessions and family fun days to mini festivals — all designed to welcome new players and kick off the season in style.
