County Athletics Success!
On Saturday 8th June, 15 Garth Hill College students represented Bracknell Forest at the Berkshire County Schools Athletics Competition. These pupils had qualified after finishing in the top two in Bracknell Forest at the district competition. All of the pupils were brilliant and performed superbly on the day against some very talented competitors. Out of the 15 students, 7 finished with podium places. Connor Law (800m) and Sam Anderson (Triple Jump) both finished in 3rd place in the U15 competition. Abbie Sillett (100m) and Tilly – Marie Spurr (Long Jump) went one better to achieve 2nd place. Then to top the day off, Casey Curtis (Shot Put), Charlotte Johnson (400m) and Zac Davies (Shot Put) all finished in first place making them the county champions for their age group. Beyond these results we also had some great performances by Jack Graham (Javelin), Aimee Claypole (1500m), Sam Johnson (Hurdles), Harry Digby (800m), Torin Brooks (800m), Sukai Jarra (Hurdles), Brenda Sone (100m) and Torin Brooks (800m). Many of these students were competing with the year above which means we can look forward to more positive results at next year’s competition.
Overall, the pupils were fantastic and showed excellent attitude and effort towards their performances. Many thanks to all of the parents and carers who came to watch and support the students from Garth Hill College.
