Careers and Enrichment Launch for GH6 Students
It has been a busy and productive start to the new academic year at Garth Hill College, particularly for our Sixth Form students. During the month of September, students in Year 12 and Year 13 were introduced to a range of careers and enrichment opportunities designed to support their personal development and future pathways.
We were pleased to welcome several external organisations who delivered engaging and informative sessions tailored to each year group.
Involve, a local volunteering organisation, met with all Year 12 students to introduce them to the wide range of volunteering opportunities available in the community. Students were encouraged to sign up for roles or were signposted to local charities and organisations actively seeking support. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore ways of giving back while developing valuable skills.
For Year 13 students, Pathways CTM delivered a focused session on AWE apprenticeships, offering insights into the company, the types of roles available, and guidance on the application process. This session provided a valuable glimpse into the world of apprenticeships and the high-quality opportunities available post-18.
In addition, students in both years benefited from an inspiring talk by Temi from the University of Gloucestershire. Temi offered helpful advice on student life, student finance, and how to choose the right university. She also gave an overview of the University of Gloucestershire, sparking interest among students considering higher education as their next step.
These sessions have kick-started the College's careers and enrichment programme, equipping students with knowledge, options, and inspiration as they begin to consider their futures.
We look forward to offering more opportunities and events throughout the year to support our students in making informed decisions about their next steps.
