CONSULTATION on the awarding of qualifications in 2021
Following the Government’s decision to cancel summer exams and vocational exams in February and March, a joint consultation, by Ofqual and the Department for Education (DfE), has been launched inviting views on the alternative arrangements by which students will be awarded GCSEs, AS and A level grades in summer 2021.
The consultation is now open to everyone. The consultation closes on 29 January 2021 at 23h45. Further information, including on how to respond to the consultation online, can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-how-gcse-as-and-a-level-grades-should-be-awarded-in-summer-2021
There is also a complementary consultation on the arrangements for vocational, technical and other qualifications (such as BTECs and Cambridge Technicals). Further information on this can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-alternative-arrangements-for-the-award-of-vtqs-and-other-general-qualifications-in-2021
As you will appreciate, it is only after the consultation is completed that we will get clarity on the actual arrangements for determining grades this year. When we do receive this information, we will ensure this is communicated clearly and comprehensively to students and parents/carers.
Thank you for your on-going support and understanding at this time.
