3M Young Innovators Challenge
Nine students from Garth Hill College took part in the 3M Young innovators challenge. They designed and presented products to help visually impaired people make day-to-day activities easier.
They had the opportunity to develop science, engineering and mathematical skills to produce a well thought out portfolio for the product and presented to industry experts.
Both teams progressed in the competition to the finals, where TEAm Coffee won their category and Team Brallable were highly commended. A great result with their efforts being rewarded.
TEAm Coffee (winners) – created a tactile device for identifying objects and products in a home to differentiate household products
Team Brallable (highly commended) – created an electronic device that auto-generated braille from text
