The Trench Experience
The Garth Hill Trench Experience is an outdoor learning space that enables visitors to develop their understanding of the First World War and of a soldier’s life at the front.
Educational activities, information displays and demonstrations will help visitors to:
- understand the war and the conditions in the trenches
- uncover personal stories
- experience typical trench life
- explore the legacy of the Great War and what it means to us today.
This resource would complement the History curriculum at key stage 3 and at key stage 2 through the study of an aspect or theme in British history that extends pupils’ chronological knowledge beyond 1066.
Visiting Us:
We recommend allowing up to two hours for a visit with a group of 30 pupils (split into two groups of 15). We offer teacher led sessions with a choice of lesson plans and activities. We may be able to accommodate larger groups. Please contact us to discuss your requirements prior to booking.
“Thank you so much for taking us around the site – the children loved it and have made the other Year 5 class very jealous!”
