    • Component 1 /Coursework– Personal Investigation worth 60%
    • Component 2 /Exam– Externally Set Assignment 40% (Preparatory period + 15 hours supervised time)

Content

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a response to the all of the assessment objectives in each unit and the examination. Candidates should be able to:

  • A01: Develop their ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
  • A02: Experiment with and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes , reviewing and refining ideas as their works develops.
  • A03: Record in visual and/ or other forms ideas, observations and insights relevant to their intentions, demonstrating an ability to reflect on their work and progress
  • A04: Present a personal, informed and meaningful response demonstrating critical understanding, realising intentions and where appropriate, making connections between visual, written, oral or other elements.

Careers in which an Art & Design and background is very relevant will include: Graphic design, interior, fashion, ceramics, film, animation, magazine, editorial photographer, freelance photographer, wedding and portrait photographer, set and prop for theatre/TV/ films, textile, jewellery and packaging designer. As well as a printmaker, sculptor, painter, art teacher, Art Therapist. In addition to this many articles have been published which discuss how employers seek out students who have creative subjects on their C.V’s.
